Spring favs

I can't be the only one sitting at home planning outfits for the spring when there's more than a foot of snow outside....right?! As the famous Miranda Priestly said, "Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking." So it is my goal to stay away from florals so I'm not looking like every other girl.

Long sleeve rompers
I die!!!! Rompers were big a few years ago and faded out. There's something about long sleeve rompers that can make you look relaxed or dressed up and I love that! I love a classic black one with some caged sandals. So excited to buy one of these.
Wide leg pants
Can't even explain how much I love these. They are the perfect fall staple. I saw these a lot in spring collections on the runway. And for my short girls that love these, make sure you get a higher waisted and leaner flare to make your body look longer!
Thick heels
I'm so obsessed with these shoes and I can't put my finger on what I love so much about them. The thicker heel gives it more of an edge and I love that

All natural facial scrub

Once winter comes around it's over for my skin! I'm really careful with what I put on my face though because I'm terrified of a break out or a reaction. I love scrubs but always been scared to use them on my face. I was so thankful to find an all natural DIY scrub that is so easy and works wonders!! My skin is so soft, I'm loving it.

You'll need 4 things:
A little bowl to mix everything up in
Honey
Sugar
Lemon

1. Put a little less than 1/4 a cup of honey into a bowl. I used raw honey which you don't usually find in stores. It has so many benefits and has anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral properties! Love!

2. Put teaspoons of white sugar into the honey until it is the right consistency.
(I've heard of scrubs used with brown sugar but I haven't tried that yet!)

3. I put a few drops of lemon juice into the mix because I thought it was a little thick and the lemon fixed that!

4. Use as a regular facial as you would on your face and neck. Just make sure you don't scrub too hard! Leave it on for about 5 minutes to hydrate your skin!

5. Lastly I found washing it off with warm water made it a lot easier to come off!

And you're all done! My skin is feeling so hydrated and much better! Ugh, can't stand a dry winter face!

January obsessions

I hate the cold but I love winter trends. These are 3 things I've been dying for in the month of January!

Capes.
I am on the hunt for a cape!! They make you look so chic and trendy. I'm making it a goal for myself to buy one before January is over. Perfect winter essential!

Lace up boots.
When I think of winter I think of boots. Put the uggs away and throw on a pair of tall boots and it makes you look so much more put together. I love the bad-ass look lace up boots give.

Structured handbags.
It's no secret I'm handbag obsessed. I love a nice structured bag. I got my latest one from H&M and my older one from TJ Maxx. It was love at first sight! So perfect for the winter!

4 winter trends

Style is all about experimenting. These are 4 trends I promise you'll be seeing this winter.

1.Winter white out
A fashion law is don't wear white after Labor Day, I mean that rule has been around for long as I remember. But laws are meant to be broken. Yes, you can wear white after Labor Day but there are still guidelines. You have to make sure they're winter pieces. Don't you dare bring out that white sundress in December. As long as it's done right it looks absolutely gorgeous.

2. Plaids
I went to a private school so trust me, I know all about plaid. It's making a come back and I'm loving it. It's so easy to style with and always a classic. I might just have to pull out my plaid jumper.

3. Fur vest
Nothing says "Rich bitch" like a nice fur vest. Sometimes it's hard to pull off a fur vest but when you do, you look so fabulous. Pair with a chiffon collard shirt, great sunnies and pull your hair in a sleek ponytail or sock bun and you'll look great.

4. Wool shorts
Now if you know me you know I don't let the seasons control my life. It'll be 30 degrees and you better believe I'll still have an iced coffee in my hand. I think that's why I'm so happy to see wool shorts this season. I even got myself a pair from Piperlime in a plaid pattern. Pair them with opaque tights underneath and a great loafer.

Lazy chic

I love being lazy, I mean duh who doesn't? But that doesn't mean I let myself look lazy. The only time I will wear uggs is if it's snowing, below 20 degrees or just lounging around the house. Winter isn't all about uggs and sweatshirts. I promise you there is a way to be lazy and still look great.

When I hear lazy I think leggings...basically synonyms, right? Believe it or not there are right and wrong ways to wear leggings. Don't let anyone tell you leggings are pants because they are not. I've noticed that when leggings are worn as pants they make your body look awkward and unflattering. When you wear them you should wear a longer shirt like a button down or an oversized sweater. My favorite to wear with leggings is my oversize chambray shirt.

I don't believe in uggs but I do believe in boots. Get a good pair of boots and everything you wear will look complete. I love tall riding boots and little booties. Also pair them with long socks! If you know me, I pretty much wear high socks with almost everything. I'm obsessed! They look so good and for sure pull everything all together.

Don't be the cookie cutter lazy girl. You can still dress lazy without anyone knowing. Don't look like everyone else. Whatever you wear always look and feel confident!

Rings & things.

Lately I've been channeling my inner flower child. I love the whole bohemian gypsy look for the fall. I've especially come to love all the jewelry that comes with this bohemian trend.

Midi rings are everything!!! If you don't know what they are they're rings that don't go all the way down, they are sized to fit the middle of your finger! Mix those with regular rings and I promise you'll get tons of complements. I got mine from Nordstrom in the junior's section online. Surprisingly they were so cheap! And you can never pass up free shipping!

I also love a big bold necklace with a simple one. I got my necklaces from an antique shop. If you're going for the bohemian look, visit any antique or thrift shop and I promise you'll find the coolest jewelry pieces. Plus who doesn't love a good sale?!?

Lastly, as long as it's done in the right way, don't be scared to mix a little gold with a little silver. Mixing those in small quantities is key. My favorite is rose gold with silver.

Now go out there and find your inner gypsy.

Tips while wearing all black

The "all black everything" trend has been around since the HBIC (head bitch in charge) Coco Chanel, introduced it as not a sad color to wear, but an elegant color. All black has been my go-to lately, especially that it's starting to get super cold.

Ladies, invest in a pair of plain black jeans. You'll thank me later. When wearing all black play around with your patterns and textures, don't be scared to step out of the box and try something totally different. Also, layer up!!! Layering can make an outfit look so much more interesting and it'll keep the people around you wondering what ya got going on for you. My other tip is to experiment with your colors. My all time favorite is all black with gold accents. That to-die-for gold watch or earrings can make an outfit come all together.
Last tip, invest in a black leather jacket this winter. Again, you'll thank me later. It's a perfect layering piece that can pull an outfit all together. Plus, a remarkable leather jacket never goes out of style.

So ladies, dress in all black, throw on that classic red lip and I promise you'll conquer the world looking hot.
